City Council Meeting Minutes
July 27, 2022
Present were Mayor Bien, Council persons Brunkhorst, Hahn, O’Reilly and Thuman. Also present were Officer Brecht, Chief Smith, Duane Aland, Joe Benda, Mary Ramboldt, Terry Anderson-Buck, Cailin Richard, Mitch Massman, Trevor Stenlund, and Tom Tonsager.
Motion by Burnkhorst and seconded by O’Reilly to approve the agenda. Motion carried
Motion by Hahn and seconded Brunkhorst and seconded by O’Reilly to approve the July 13, 2022, city council minutes with updates. Motion carried
Old Business-Old Burts Farm Store meeting was held, and Phase 1 history study will be done. Water Tower Antenna use- we are still waiting for additional information on the signed contract with Verizon Wireless. Street Project Bonding- the city is working with Northland Securities for financing the 4th St and Broadway Street projects.
Motion by Thuman and second by Brunkhorst to approve the deadline to have items added agenda by the Friday at 2 pm before the Wednesday, City Council Meeting. Remember the council meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. This would include all papers that you would like the council to review and discuss at the council meeting. Motion carried.
Motion made by Thuman and second by Brunkhorst to add additional stop signs at 11th St. and 3rd Ave. motion carried.
Motion made by Brunkhorst and seconded by O’Reilly to have Public Works work with Webber Recreational Design, Inc in getting mulch for the playgrounds. Motion carried.
Motion made by O’Reilly and seconded by Brunkhorst to have Public Works work with Midstates Equipment & Supply with rental of Mastic Melter and Sealant supplies for street crack maintenance. Motion carried
Police Dept. update- The Police Dept. will be working on a Policy for THC in the city, additional information on the radar speed control system. The Noise ordinance was briefly brough up to possibly looking into adding Jack Breaking information. Resolution #6 was motioned by Brunkhorst and seconded by O’Reilly which states Approving State of MN Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Goodhue on behalf of its City Attorney and Police Department. Motion carried
Motion made by Hahn and seconded by Brunkhorst to have City Clerk Jill Buxengard to attend the Clerks Academy Training in Sept. Motion carried.
Council Concerns- Hahn attended that Zumbrota Area Ambulance Association meeting on Tuesday evening. He was able to share the strong encouragement of donations that are needed to help maintain and improve the radio equipment.
Brunkhorst reported on the need for the water tower to be painted that will be needed in the near future.
Motion by O’Reilly and seconded by Thuman to approve the bills. Motion carried
