She is operating one of the town’s newest businesses, J Hill Promotions Showroom and Gifts, out of the former Lodermeier offices at 211 Broadway in Goodhue.
JoAnn opened in the downtown space in July after working out of her home for four years. As she grew her promotional company so did the array of samples that she had on hand and they started to take over her space. Customers can now stop in to the store to see and feel the different items and discuss ideas with JoAnn. She has access to a huge variety of items that can be customized.
After a year and a half of debating and researching, JoAnn, along with her husband, Pat, decided to move the business forward and purchase a laser machine. The machine allows them to engrave on, or cut shapes from, wood, acrylic, glass, leather and much more. Pat and JoAnn created several personized Christmas ornaments in addition to many unique custom gift items. Engraved cake pans, cutting boards with family recipes and photos of loved ones and fur babies have been popular this year. The laser is so versatile, they even used it to create wooden hanging light fixtures.
JoAnn’s previous work experience in publications and sales has prepared her well for this venture. She likes helping people see their visions come to life. Although she does work with large companies, she says, “I like to help the little guy”.
