Community Express and Courier Services, a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is helping people in Goodhue and surrounding communities meet their transportation needs. Its mission is to provide reliable, affordable transportation for medical appointments and everyday activities.
Services include wheelchair transportation and rides to medical appointments, physical therapy, dialysis treatments and hospital discharges, as well as grooming appointments, airport shuttles, and trips to the bank and grocery store.
Access to transportation helps people maintain their independence, keep appointments and stay connected to their communities. Community Express and Courier Services aims to make those essential trips easier for local residents.
The organization is seeking volunteers with fresh ideas, paid drivers and people interested in supporting its work in other roles. Whether you have time, skills or ideas to share, Community Express and Courier Services welcomes hearing what you have to offer. Apply online at CommunityExpress.net.
Community donations help support this mission. Donations are tracked by the donor’s ZIP code so funds support transportation needs in the donor’s local area.
The organization has also launched its “12 Days of Christmas Treats from the North Pole” holiday fundraiser. Visit CommunityExpress.net or follow Community Express and Courier Services on Facebook for treat selections and ordering information.
Please plan ahead for your accessible transportation needs this holiday season, and book as soon as possible. Elderly people and people who use wheelchairs are too often forgotten when holiday plans are made. Community Express and Courier Services can help with transportation to and from holiday festivities, so please call early to arrange your ride.
