Kellie Patricia Peterson, 57, of Red Wing, died Sunday, July 23, 2023 at her home with her family by her side. She was born November 5, 1965 in Zumbrota to Gerald “Shug” and Dolores (Franklin) Ryan. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Goodhue High School, class of 1984. She went to college in Winona before becoming a flight attendant for Pan Am. She would go on to work for Northwest Airlines, later, Delta. On June 2, 1990 she was united in marriage to Scott Peterson at St. Columbkill. Together they raised 5 children.

Kellie loved making her house a home. She enjoyed decorating it and then filling it with family. She loved to entertain her large family by making elaborate meals and inviting everyone over to Sunday dinners. She grew up with lots of siblings and she loved spending time with her sisters, especially on trips to the cabin. She loved to travel walk in the woods. She also took special care of her yard and her immaculate gardens as they were an extension of her home.

She was artistic and loved to sing. She would sing instructions, complete with unique nicknames, to get her kids moving in the morning. Kellie was fun and she wasn’t afraid to be silly.

Kellie was honest, kind and loving. She could talk to anyone and made friends easily. Faith was important to her. She was great with kids and loved being a grandmother. She always looked forward to babysitting her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Scott; five children, Cameron (Merribeth) Peterson, Calvin (Kathryn) Peterson, Mikayla (Tyler) Ryan, Sam Peterson, and Ellie Peterson; 4 grandchildren, Leighton, Bria, Breck, and Nora; siblings, Peggy (Scott) Hinsch, Rebecca (Scott) Diercks, Hugh Ryan, Jacklyn (Jim) Lodermeier, Eileen (Larry) Miller, Greg (Cindy) Ryan , Doug (Kris) Ryan, Dan Ryan, Ginger (Steven) O’Neill and Jeri (Dale Matthees) Petree; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rhonda Hayes, Steve (Karolyn) Peterson, Sarah (Dennis) Hinsch, and Shane (Kelly) Peterson.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, McKenzie Peterson; sister, Ann (TC) Buckingham; nephew, Chad Luhman; father-in-law, Lowell Peterson; and her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023 at St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Goodhue. Visitation was 4 – 8p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at the church as well as two hours prior to the service, also at church. Burial was at the church cemetery.
