Terrence Norman Mattson “Terry” died peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester Minnesota on January 14th, 2023, at the age of 84.

Terry is survived by his brothers David (Pat) of Challis, ID, Danny (Bonnie) of Marshfield, WI, Randall (Linnea) of Chippewa Falls, WI, son Michel (Shawn) of Nowthen, MN, stepson Brian (Jody) Gordon of Bellchester, MN, and God daughter Emily Tynjala of Lake City, MN, and numerous nieces, nephews, & grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife Carol Nelson (Wickman) of Red Wing, second wife Sandy Gordon of Goodhue, brother Steven of Milltown, WI, brother James of Milaca, MN, and parents Harvey and Elsie of Milltown, WI.

Terry was born on May the 10th, 1938 in Milltown, WI to Harvey and Elsie Mattson. He graduated from Milltown High in 1957 and joined the Air Force that same year. He served a total of 12 years between the Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and the National Guard. He married Carol Wickman in 1964 and welcomed their only child Michel into their Luck, WI home in 1965. The family moved to Red Wing in 1967. After a divorce in 1985, Terry married Sandy Gordon in 1992 and moved to Goodhue, MN where he remained.

Terry was always good for a story or two (or three) and was open and welcoming to friends and strangers alike. He was a loving husband, father, and a friend to his son. Terry enjoyed fishing in his youth and was a deer hunter all his life. The Wisconsin deer openers he missed were few and far between, and he took his last deer three years ago at 81. He was a good mechanic and carpenter and he often used his skills to help others. He was proud of his service in the military during the cold war.

A memorial is scheduled for 11am to 2pm on Saturday, January 28th at the Goodhue Community Center, 105 Broadway St. in Goodhue to celebrate his life. A light lunch will be provided. All are welcome.
